However, we have observed a phenomenon in these competitions that is curious indeed. In the parts of the competitions that require contestants to use oxygen tanks, <b>CrossFit-trianed firefighters consumed less from their air bottles than other competitors</b>. At first this seems odd -- winners using less air? The conventional understanding is that the more fit you are the more oxygen you can consume (i.e. the greater your VO2 max), the higher levels of exertion you can sustain, and the faster you can get the job done.         <![CDATA[I learned a lot this weekend from <a href="http://www.mikesgym.org/">Coach Burgener</a> at CrossFit's Olympic Lifting certification! This Saturday from 9:00 - 11:15 (normally a CrossFit rest day) I will be offering training for small groups (1-3 people) on snatches and cleans $15 per person for a 45 minute session. <br /><br /><b>This training is by appointment only - please RSVP via phone or email.</b><br /><br />It will be best if you can come with a training partner because you will learn better watching your partner correct his/her mistakes as you correct yours. We will review the Burgener warmup, cover some drills designed to correct common errors, and use video so that you can see yourself what you are doing. My experience has been the video reinforces corrections much faster than a coach can put it into words.
